Limpopo

Home of the mystical Rain Queen Modjadji, and majestic Baobab trees, the Limpopo Province is the northernmost province of South Africa, sharing borders with Botswana in the west, Mozambique on the east and Zimbabwe in the north. The province extends over the northern part of the Kruger National Park, the Waterberg Mountain Range rich in streams, springs, wetlands and prolific birdlife, and the Soutpansberg partially inhabited by the Venda.

Culturally rich and diverse, Limpopo is the ultimate land of myths, legends, beautiful scenery and landscapes. Mapungubwe Hills, a World Heritage Site, was until its demise in the 13th century surrounded by a kingdom which was the most important inland settlement in the subcontinent. Archeological sites such as the Makapanas Caves in Phalaborwa, known for its open-cast copper mine, ancient cycads, and Domba Dancing are icons consisting of living cultures, and ancient places, who will leave the visitor with a greater insight into what makes the Limpopo the Great North.
